Ed Win’s Fitness Studio is a large, private studio
located conveniently off of route 28 in Manassas, Virginia.

Owned and operated by a certified personal trainer, Ed Wins Fitness Studio offers a variety of specialized fitness and healthy eating plans to get started with and maintain a healthy lifestyle. When you enter Ed Win’s Fitness Studio you are greeted warmly by friendly staff. Valuing their client’s abilities, goals, and fitness level, they treat each client with professionalism as a capable and committed customer. Working with the staff, you’ll engage in a variety of exercises in the private, spacious, and engaging fitness environment, including access to Kettle bells, state of art monkey bar rig, rowers, sleds, functional trainer, smith machine, dumbbells, cardio equipment, and last but certainly not least, stability balls. Ed Win’s Fitness Studio is more than a gym – it’s an experience and a journey to a better you.

My name is Edwin McGill.

I have been a fitness expert for 12 years and worked in the fitness industry for 15 years. I have been committed to working out for the past 18 years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Strength and Conditioning, a personal training certification through International Sports Science Association (ISSA), certified in sports nutrition and weight loss management, stretch certified, and a background in kickboxing.

My goal and purpose is to lead you in the right direction to achieving your goals in a healthy and safe manner. Remember, there is no shame in asking for help! One of my favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.”

Growing up, I was always a skinny kid. I played sports throughout my school years and as an adult. However, in my 40’s, I wasn’t playing sports as much and by the time I turned 49 years old, I was no longer a skinny kid. I was at least 80-90lbs over weight, unhealthy, unhappy, and depressed. Oh, I tired the anti-depression pills, thinking I would mentally feel better and then be able to start an exercise program. However, I always knew the answer was not going to be in a “pill” not did I want to depend on a pill to feel better. After about a year, I stopped taking the anti-depression pills. I knew if I just started exercising I would not only feel better physically, but mentally too. For me the answer was getting into a gym. However, like many other women, I was very self-conscious of my weight and very intimidated of gyms. There is a gym close to where I worked and at lunch time I would occasionally drive through the parking lot thinking today is the day only to drive away saying, “maybe another day.” At last that day came and I finally got my nerve up and told myself, “What will it hurt to go in and just look?” So, I parked the car and with my heart pounding, walked into the gym. All of a sudden, I found myself joining the gym and asking for a personal trainer. That’s when I met Edwin McGill, the gyms personal trainer. I was very nervous, but Edwin made me feel at ease which was very important for a self-conscious, low self-esteem, over weight 49 year old female. We talked for a bit and then he asked me what my goal was. I replied that I just wanted to get healthy. Well, once we got started, I was hooked. Having Edwin as my personal trainer has been so rewarding and so much fun. I looked forward to every session. He is very innovative and no training session is the same except that they are always fun and challenging. Somehow he knows exactly what is “just enough” to challenge me. His knowledge of strength and conditioning training is exceptional and if you like kickboxing; he is certified in that too! He also taught me that exercise alone is not the solution to weight loss program and that I needed to change my eating habits as well. Since working with Edwin, I have gone from a size 22 pants to a size 12 losing over 75lbs and still losing weight! I am not only physically healthier; I am mentally healthier as well and depression free. I have never felt better. My family, friends and co-workers are amazed at the results and compliment me on how I look and how hard I have worked. I tell them the hardest part was simply walking into the gym. Thank you, Edwin, for your guidance and for making each session challenging and fun. Because of you and your knowledge, I am a healthier, happier person. You have not only influenced and changed me, but my family as well. They have seen the results and some are now working with their own personal trainer.

One-on-One Training

Boot Camp Class

  • Don’t have enough time to workout for an hour?
  • Want the most bang for your buck?
  • Come try our boot camp class, which can be held indoors and outside.
  • It will be a mix of exercises including traditional calisthenics, body weight exercises, interval training and strength training.

Nutrition Program

  • Your workouts are good, but having trouble on the nutrition side?
  • We will tailor a nutrition program that will meet your specific needs

Workout Program

  • If you don’t like working out at a gym and prefer to workout at home.
  • All ready motivated, but find it hard to put together a workout program?
  • Online training might be your answer. We will tailor a fitness program that will meet your specific needs.

6 Week 12lb Challenge

Here’s the deal: The challenge will be starting every two months. I’m looking for 18 highly motivated participants to join. There are unlimited classes you can attend and they are 30mins long. After you have lost the 12lbs and fulfilled all the requirements of the challenge, you will be able to get a refund or roll your classes over to the next challenge.

After School Program

Make a positive difference in the lives of your children by enrolling them in the After Program at Ed Wins Fitness Studio. The over-arching goal of this program is to promote comprehensive lifestyle changes in children’s dietary and physical exercise habits. This program is primarily for kids ages 6-12.

Main objectives of this after-school program are to:

  • Engage children in athletic activities that are fun for effecting lifelong changes
  • Assist children in understanding the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle
  • Help students complete homework in a structured environment for successful classroom behavior

Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years.
There are immediate and long-term effects on health and well-being.

Immediate health effects:

  • Obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. In a population-based sample of 5-17year olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
  • Obese adolescents are more likely to have pre-diabetes, a condition in which blood glucose levels indicate a high risk for development of diabetes.

Long-term health effects:

  • Children and adolescents who are obese are likely to be obese as adults and are therefore more at risk for adult health problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. One study showed that children who became obese as early as age 2 were more likely to be obese as adults.
  • Overweight and obesity are associated with increased risk for many types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, colon, endometrium, esophagus, kidney, pancreas, gallbladder, thyroid, ovary, cervix, and prostate, as well as multiple myeloma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Solution to the Problem:

  • Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases.
  • The dietary and physical activity behaviors of children are influenced by many sectors of society, including families, communities, schools, child care settings and entertainment industries.

Activity Schedule

  • 3:30 pm Studio van will pick up the children
  • 4:00pm.-5:00p.m. They will be provided healthy snacks with a discussion on the selection of appropriate food items for nourishing the body
  • A tutor will be present to help with homework. Computers are available for homework and enrichment activities
  • 5:00pm – 6:00p.m. They will be involved in an age-appropriate structured physical exercise
  • 6:00 pm Parents pick up their children
